Background

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/ Doctors Without Borders is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters and exclusion from healthcare in more than 65 countries. MSF offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. 

MSF has worked in India since 1999, providing free-of-charge essential healthcare to people in remote areas, and specialist care for people affected by HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, hepatitis C, antibiotic resistance, tuberculosis, kala azar and sexual and gender-based violence. We also respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, provide mental healthcare and advocate for the development of more effective and affordable medicines to improve access to treatment for people everywhere.

We currently run projects in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Manipur, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. MSF was awarded the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development in 1996 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.

Job Purpose

  • To mobilise Major Donors, to contribute resources in support of MSF’s objectives and activities.

  • To position MSF among current and potential Major Donors, as the leading medical humanitarian aid organisation.

Support Strategic Development

  • Develop a complete understanding of MSF India’s overall fundraising strategies.
  • Advice upon and support the development of the Major Donor strategy for MSF India, working closely with the  Head of Fundraising, MSF India’s Fundraising Team and other staff.

Implementation

  1. Implement the MSF India Major Donor strategy with the aim of increasing income from Major Donor channel.
  2. Analyze data, locate trends, and evolve plans to improve donor servicing, Major Donor fundraising operations and resource generation
  3. Ensure timely, accurate, and effective donor servicing ( mailers, annual reports, receipts, forms, information requests, activity status updates, tax certificates, queries, field visit requests, invitation for events, etc) towards relationship building and retention
  4. Secure event partnerships, marketing partnerships and sponsorships from major donors
  5. Develop  relevant fundraising communication materials for various needs: electronic and print as relevant for Major Donor  fundraising
  6. Undertaking any other reasonable task that the Head of Fundraising sees fit for the smooth running of the team.

 

Monitoring and Reporting

  1. Present and discuss objective/plans/activities with key people within the organisations
  2. Use the available CRM system to make enquiries, update records and produce required reports
  3. Ensure timely, accurate and quality MIS for the function
  4. Provide reports on major donor fundraising to head of fundraising on monthly basis.
  5. Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with applicable (Indian) law at all times, including compliance with data protection legislation

Representation

  1. Represent MSF in face to face meetings with major donors and companies
  2. Represent MSF at HNWI and corporate platforms
  3. Represent major fundraising in internal fundraising

    • Number of major donor profiles developed

Other Indicative Requirements

Educational Qualifications  & Functional / Technical Skills

  • Graduate

Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)

  • 4-5 years of experience in major donor fundraising or similar profile in marketing
  • Experience in writing grant proposals and reporting on project-specific grants.

We offer
