Sometime back when I had a little bit of surplus money, I decided to donate to an organisation that is helping people who need it the most. I browsed through the work of a few organisations. As an ardent follower of international news, I repeatedly came across one organisation - MSF. Be it a natural calamity or the wars in South Sudan, Yemen, Syria or dangerous diseases like Ebola, this organisation is at the forefront of helping people. They are taking serious risks in serving in these dangerous conditions. There is one unique characteristic which makes this organisation stand out from others – that it does not take any sides. Because of all these good qualities, I chose to donate to MSF. I was not aware at the time of their work in India, but I read up and realised they are doing a wonderful job of providing healthcare in the most neglected regions of India. My respect for MSF increased manifold because of their transparent functioning. During the Nepal earthquake, I made a small contribution with the note “For Nepal earthquake relief”. I got a call from an MSF representative and she explained that the funds collected in India cannot and will not be taken outside India. Then I had to send an authorization mail to approve the use of funds for activities in India. The way MSF stood against EU-Turkey Deal and refused to accept donations from EU member states, I feel proud of my association with the organisation and want to continue being part of its activities. I pledge to contribute in whatever way possible.
