Mumbaikars get a sneak-peak of medical crises across the world and India

Mumbai, December 12: The international medical humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) will be organising a three-day interactive exhibition at the Inorbit Mall in Malad from December 12 to December 14.

The exhibition, part of the “Who Cares?”, MSF’s visibility campaign on pressing medical crises around the world and medical humanitarianism comes to Mumbai, for the first time, after four successful events in New Delhi. Housed under three tents which MSF teams use as mobile clinics across the world, it will introduce MSF and its work in India and abroad. During the exhibition, visitors will also get the unique opportunity to interact with MSF medical staff who have first-hand experience of working in difficult situations in India and abroad.

Specifically, it will focus on the ongoing Ebola epidemic which has affected over 17000 people and killed over 6000 in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The exhibition will throw more light on the on-ground challenges MSF medical staff face while treating patients affected by this deadly disease. For the first time ever, visitors will also see the personal protection equipment gear that MSF doctors wear while treating patient affected by Ebola in Western Africa.

“Through this exhibition, we hope to share the story of MSF, of our patients and doctors and our work around the world – whether it is the challenge of providing medical care to those affected by the ongoing ebola outbreak in West Africa or providing  treatment for Drug Resistant-TB in Mumbai ,” says Martin Sloot, General Director, MSF India adding “we are thrilled to be reaching out to Mumbaikars and hope that we have engaging discussions on medical crises during this event and others we will organize in 2015.”

It will be open for visitors from December 12 to December 14 from 11am to 9.30 pm at Inorbit Mall, Malad. MSF will also be hosting a photo exhibition titled “While We Looked Away” from February 2 to February 11 at NCPA, Nariman Point.
