Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis:
Treating the untreatable
With 84,000 cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), India has the highest burden of DR-TB in the world. This disease is curable yet it is the top infectious killer in the world. Since 2006, MSF has been providing not just medical treatment but holistic care to people living with DR-TB in Mumbai. The treatment they receive at MSF clinic is hope because it is for patients who have no options left. In this video, we focused on various important aspects of the treatment of DR-TB.

MSF Response to Cyclone Idai
A weather system that produced heavy rains flooded parts of Malawi in early March 2019, before developing into Cyclone Idai, which struck Mozambique and Zimbabwe on 14-16 March, 2019. Tuberculosis Day
On World Tuberculosis Day last month, our team in Mumbai facilitated the drug resistant TB survivors who had completed their treatment in 2018 and were declared cured. The survivors shared their experience with patients, encouraging them to keep on fighting the disease. In Mumbai, the MSF team has offered new drugs – Bedaquiline and Delamanid to 210 patients, among which 155 are receiving the combination of these drugs. So far, 60 patients have been declared cured with these new drugs.
