Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters and exclusion from healthcare in more than 65 countries. MSF offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. 

MSF has worked in India since 1999, providing free-of-charge essential healthcare to people in remote areas, and specialist care for people affected by HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, hepatitis C, antibiotic resistance, tuberculosis, kala azar and sexual and gender-based violence. We also respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, provide mental healthcare and advocate for the development of more effective and affordable medicines to improve access to treatment for people everywhere.

We currently run projects in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Manipur, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. MSF was awarded the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace

 

General

Job Profile: Medical Doctor

Location: Meerut

Expected Starting Date: 1st April 2018

Monthly Gross Salary: INR 64,320/-

Duration: 12 months (renewable)

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities 

  • Is responsible to apply medical knowledge and skills for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Hepatitis-C. Carry out outpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols. 
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow. 
  • Refer patients to specialty care based on indications set by MSF protocols; follow up the evolution of referred cases with referral hospital and ensure appropriate management of complications.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and support/ provide feedback on quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material.  Assure general compliance with hygiene standards. 
  • Participate in the collection, analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any discrepancy or problem. Support the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material. 
  • Ensure on-going training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care. 
  • Know and ensure all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented; ensuring universal precautions are followed at all times, reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. 
  • Ensures professional confidentiality is respected. 
  • Support other members of medical team (Nurses, counsellors, Health promoter and lab technicians and Data manager) 
  • Participate in any emergencies and on calls if necessary. 
  • Participate actively in project meetings, when required. 
  • Represent MSF in external meetings, conferences, or workshops when required.  Collaborate with partner organizations towards improving patients’ health conditions. 
  • Support Clinic/ Community activities with any additional task as assigned.

 

Requirements

Qualification

  • M.B.B.S from MCI recognised medical college

Experience 

Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical work (can be within medical training). Desirable knowledge and skills in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health, OB/Gyn, Paeds, A&E, Infectious Diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, Hepatitis C, General Medicine or Minor Surgery.
